About the Role
The Stores & Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the overall management of inventory, material storage, and warehouse operations across the PET and Can filling units. This role ensures accurate inventory control, efficient space utilization, material traceability, and timely availability of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and finished goods. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in warehouse management systems and modern inventory practices within a high-speed beverage manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of inbound, storage, and outbound material flows.
- Ensure timely receipt, inspection, and storage of raw materials, packaging, and spares.
- Maintain accurate material identification and traceability through barcoding or RFID systems.
- Implement efficient layout planning and space optimization for the warehouse.
- Coordinate with production, procurement, and logistics for smooth supply and dispatch.
Inventory Management & Control
- Maintain optimum inventory levels for all material categories to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Implement and monitor FIFO / FEFO (First In, First Out / First Expiry, First Out) systems.
- Conduct cycle counts, physical verifications, and reconciliation with SAP/ERP records.
- Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and non-moving inventory and recommend disposal actions.
- Ensure material segregation and safe handling of hazardous substances (if applicable).
Documentation & ERP Systems
- Maintain all warehouse documentation including Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), Material Issue Slips, and Dispatch Records.
- Ensure real-time data entry and accuracy in ERP/SAP or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Prepare and present inventory reports, variance analyses, and audit summaries.
- Support automation initiatives such as barcode scanning, digital dashboards, and electronic inventory tracking.
Dispatch & Finished Goods Management
- Supervise finished goods storage and dispatch in coordination with logistics and sales teams.
- Ensure loading accuracy, vehicle turnaround efficiency, and compliance with dispatch documentation.
- Maintain dispatch logs for traceability and audit readiness.
- Monitor and control packaging material movement for optimal cost and usage efficiency.
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with Factory Act, Fire & Safety norms, and EHS standards in storage and material handling areas.
- Enforce safe material handling procedures (forklifts, cranes, pallets, PPE usage).
- Maintain high standards of 5S, cleanliness, and pest control within the warehouse.
- Ensure audit readiness (internal, statutory, and customer audits) at all times.
Vendor & Coordination Management
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery and quality verification of incoming goods.
- Manage logistics partners for inbound and outbound transport efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, quality, and production teams to align material needs and schedules.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop warehouse and stores staff including supervisors, operators, and contract labor.
- Conduct training on material handling, ERP systems, and warehouse safety practices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and teamwork within the department.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Graduate / Post-Graduate with Diploma / MBA in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
- Experience: Minimum 10-15 years in warehouse and stores management within beverage, FMCG, or process industries.
- Skills: Analytical ability, planning, communication, and leadership.
- Preferred Background: Experience managing large, fast-paced manufacturing warehouses with multiple production lines.
Technical Competencies:
Candidate must demonstrate hands-on expertise in:
- Inventory control techniques ABC classification, FSN analysis, Safety Stock, Reorder levels
- Warehouse automation SAP MM, WMS, barcode/RFID systems
- Material flow planning Raw materials Packaging Consumables Finished goods
- Strong understanding of FEFO/FIFO, shelf-life, and traceability
- Forklift and MHE (Material Handling Equipment) operational knowledge
- Advanced Excel / MIS reporting, stock reconciliation
- Knowledge of GMP, hygiene standards for food-grade packaging
- Space optimization, racking systems, warehouse layout design
- Capable of analyzing logistics KPIs: Inventory Accuracy, Order Fulfilment Rate, OTIF, and WH efficiency.
