As a Thermal Simulation Engineer in the Aerospace and Aviation industry, you will be responsible for leading the design and analysis of thermal systems for an eVTOL platform. Your primary focus will be on developing thermal models for subsystems such as battery cooling, propulsion thermal management, avionics heat dissipation, HVAC, and structural thermal analysis. Collaboration with the Aerodynamics team for CFD analysis of external and internal flows will be a crucial aspect of your role. Your key responsibilities will include developing and managing thermal models using STAR-CCM+, conducting steady-state and transient thermal simulations for various subsystems, performing CFD analyses for aerodynamics and duct flows, optimizing components like cooling loops and heat exchangers, and collaborating cross-functionally to define thermal requirements. You will also be expected to automate simulation tasks using scripting languages like Java or Python, provide thermal insights for design reviews and certification processes, and stay updated on industry methodologies. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Thermal Engineering, along with at least 3 years of experience in thermal/CFD simulation within the aerospace or related industries. Proficiency in heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and STAR-CCM+ is essential, as well as experience in battery, motor, and electronics thermal management. An understanding of aerodynamics, CFD principles, and the ability to work with certification standards like DO-160, FAA, and EASA would be advantageous. If you have experience with eVTOL, UAVs, or electric aircraft, it would be considered a plus. Knowledge of multi-physics simulation and test-simulation correlation is also preferred for this role. You will be responsible for performing Engine Level CFD simulations (internal and in-cylinder) for series production and advanced engineering projects. Your main duties will include preparing CFD models for In-Cylinder Spray and Combustion simulations using software such as Converge, Star-CD, and AVL FIRE. Additionally, you will be expected to create CFD models for Engine & Exhaust CHT using Star-CCM+, apply loading and boundary conditions for analysis, and collaborate with design and testing teams to execute CFD analysis of engine components and propose solutions. In this role, you will conduct CFD analysis activities for development, market issues, and VAVE projects. You should possess the ability to perform post-processing, result analysis, engage in discussions with designers, and prepare detailed reports. It is essential to have a basic understanding of Engine parts and sub-systems, familiarity with engine performance parameters, and hands-on experience with In-Cylinder software, Star-CCM+, and Unigraphics. Knowledge of Engine Bench Level Testing methods and alternative fuels like Ethanol and H-CNG, as well as experience with 1D GT Power, will be advantageous. Ideal candidates should hold a B.E/B.Tech degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering/Electrical with a minimum of 60% marks.
