Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (iOS), YouTube Create

We value engineers who bring fresh ideas from various domains such as information retrieval, distributed computing, system design, networking, security, artificial intelligence, and more. **Responsibilities:** - Provide technical leadership and advocate for best engineering practices across YouTube teams. - Mentor and guide other engineers in technical aspects. - Lead the design of major software components, systems, and features. - Launch user-facing features that innovate Video Creation (Long/Short Form) via the YouTube Create app on iOS. - Collaborate closely with UX and Product Manager teams, as well as partner teams for seamless integration of media processing, effects production, and client infrastructure. - Utilize a combination of Flutter and native iOS for different aspects of the app, driving collaboration across teams for cohesive strategy and decision-making. **Qualifications Required:** - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - 8 years of experience in software development, including expertise in data structures and algorithms. - 5 years of experience in testing, launching software products, and 3 years in software design and architecture. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. - Familiarity with crash reporting and analysis tools like Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry, as well as proactive monitoring. - Understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming. - Knowledge of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and architectural patterns. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
