Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing critically ill patients with severe brain/spine conditions (strokes, TBI, aneurysms) through continuous neurological monitoring, advanced life support (ventilation, ICP management), complex medication administration (sedatives, vasopressors), assisting with neuro-specific procedures (EVDs, lumbar drains), and providing vital patient/family education and emotional support, requiring specialized critical thinking, detail orientation, and calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Continuous Monitoring

    : Perform frequent and detailed neurological assessments (e.g., pupil checks, motor responses) to quickly identify subtle changes in a patient's condition.
  • Equipment Management

    : Monitor and manage specialized equipment such as ventilators, life-support machines, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitors, and external ventricular drains (EVDs).
  • Medication Administration

    : Administer complex medication regimens, including sedatives, anticoagulants, and drugs to reduce brain swelling, ensuring accurate dosage and timing.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration

    : Work closely with a team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, and therapists to coordinate total patient care and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Emergency Response

    : Be prepared to respond rapidly to medical emergencies such as sudden bleeding or seizures, assisting the medical team with necessary interventions.
  • Documentation

    : Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, care plans, and documentation of all patient assessments and interventions.
  • Patient and Family Support

    : Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the patient's condition, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and end-of-life care when necessary.

    : Evaluate physical, cognitive, perceptual, social, and sensory function in daily activities (eating, dressing, work, community).
  • Treatment Planning

    : Develop individualized, evidence-based plans to address specific deficits (e.g., memory, motor skills, attention).
  • Intervention

    : Use daily tasks, problem-solving, and environmental modifications to improve function, focusing on what patients want and need to do.
  • Education & Support

    : Teach patients and families strategies, coping mechanisms, and home safety recommendations.
  • Coordination

    : Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other therapists to ensure integrated care and seamless transitions.
  • Documentation

    : Maintain detailed records, attend team meetings
