Job Description

The Senior Specialist must be familiar with aspects of revenue accounting and have an understanding of the various issues impacting the industry. The Senior Specialist must be able to make recommendations for process improvements as we'll as control enhancements. The Senior Specialist must also be able to troubleshoot most problems or issues that arise on his / her own.
 
This position is responsible for working with key stakeholders in other departments, including, but not limited to, Joint Venture, Commercials Operations, Hydrocarbon allocation and related Financial Representatives.
 
The Senior Specialist must be able to make recommendations for process improvements as we'll as control enhancements and must also be able to troubleshoot most problems or issues that arise.
  • Process monthly invoices and accounting to Gas, SIE, SIP etc
  • Review of monthly invoices related to Oil
  • Review of monthly flux analysis, provide necessary business commentary, Perform high-level validation of revenue, royalty and other related recordings
  • Monitor internal control processes for revenue and royalty recording and reporting - monthly closing, status of accounts, reporting compliance; maintain internal control framework for team
  • Work with JV Auditors, EY and SIA to assess compliance activity; address special requests from various internal and external organizations
  • Work with Asset Business Groups and Financial Reps to develop/maintain a high level of satisfaction in work production, information management and reporting
  • Ensure that processes are fit for purpose and that simplification and standardization become the ways of working.
  • Participate in upcoming systems implementation & cut-over activities
Leadership
  • The incumbent will be accountable for co-owing the business outcomes. It is expected that there is clearer roles and responsibilities for self and the team.
  • Ability to independently analyze and troubleshoot basic process and system issues that arise, make adjustments and corrections as needed and within delegated authorities and responsibilities. If actions are needed that are not within the desk scope or authority, bring solutions to appropriate level needed for handling
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with other organizations
  • Ability to communicate with Shell business partner representatives in a professional manner
  • Ability to establish ongoing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clarity of expectations

  • Able to troubleshoot problems or issues and know when to escalate to the Team Lead
  • The incumbent is required to have excellent problem resolution skills, strong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to understand the end-to-end business processes
KEY EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES:
  • Profession qualification (CA/CMA/ACCA)/MBA holder (Finance/Accounting)
  • 8-10 years of experience in related accounting processes or upstream background
  • Previous work experience in SAP environment is an added advantage.
  • knowledge and experience in IFRS & US GAAP
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence others through effective communications and provide the necessary challenge to Line Management
  • Able to gain confidence of leaders and/or stakeholders
