Sr. Manager/Manager - CCM

Role Objective:

Responsible for managing and ensuring efficient operation, maintenance, and performance of the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) in SMS, ensuring high-quality billet/slab output, optimized productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the CCM operations including production planning, process control, and manpower management.
  
• Ensure quality casting of billets/slabs with minimum rejection and adherence to metallurgical requirements.
  
• Oversee the operation & maintenance of CCM equipment including tundish, ladle turret, mold, secondary cooling system, and withdrawal & straightening units.
  
• Monitor and control process parameters to achieve targeted yield, productivity, and energy efficiency.
  
• Implement and monitor preventive & predictive maintenance schedules for CCM to reduce breakdowns.
  
• Coordinate with SMS, QC, and Rolling Mill teams to align production as per rolling schedules.
  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction, efficiency, and product quality.
  
• Ensure safety compliance and promote safe working practices across CCM operations.
  
• Train and mentor the team for skill enhancement and operational excellence.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of Continuous Casting Machines (CCM) and steel metallurgy.
  
• Expertise in handling mold level control, secondary cooling, breakout prevention systems, and process optimization.
  
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with exposure to casting defect analysis and corrective actions.
  
• Leadership abilities with focus on team management, cross-functional coordination, and decision-making.
  
• Knowledge of automation & control systems (PLC, SCADA, Level-2 automation) in CCM.
  
• Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Metallurgy preferred).
  
• 12–20 years of experience in SMS operations, with at least 8+ years in CCM operation/maintenance.
  
• Experience in integrated steel plant SMS operations preferred.
