Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Compliance

In-depth understanding of legal compliances pertaining to Environment Health and safety.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical environmental monitoring like ETP inlet/outlet, Air emission, ETP sludge, ambient air quality, Noise, employees health checkups.
Familiarity with environmental permits, safety data sheets (SDS), and hazardous material compliance.

2. Environmental Management

ISO 14001: Environmental Management System implementation and auditing.
Waste management (hazardous/non-hazardous), recycling, air and water quality monitoring.
Emission and effluent monitoring systems (ETP, STP, air scrubbers).

3. Occupational Health & Safety

ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001 systems and implementation.
Risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HIRA, JSA, FMEA).
Behavior-based safety (BBS) and incident investigation techniques (e.g., root cause analysis).
Lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and confined space safety.

5. Emergency Response & Fire Safety

Fire safety systems (sprinklers, detectors, alarms, hydrants).
Emergency response planning (ERP) and mock drills.
Hazardous material spill control and first responder protocols.

6. Equipment & Process Safety

Knowledge of machinery safety especially relevant to ophthalmic pharmaceutical machinery and packaging lines.
Process safety management (PSM), including hazard and operability studies (HAZOP).
Safety interlocks, automation controls, and fail-safes in manufacturing setups.

8. Training & Auditing

Designing and delivering safety and environmental training programs.
Internal auditing skills (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certifications preferred).
Familiarity with CAPA systems and non-conformance management.

Qualifications & Skills

Education
: Bachelors degree/Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
Experience
: 12+ years experience in Environment Health and Safety
Technical Knowledge
: Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessments, incident investigation, ISO 14001/45001 compliance, industrial safety, environmental management etc.
Industry Expertise
: Deep understanding of EHS challenges in
ophthalmic pharmaceutical manufacturing
, including cleanroom environments, sterile areas, and machinery safety.
