SQL Developer

As a Database Developer, your role involves designing, developing, and implementing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views. You will be responsible for optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and database schema design. Ensuring data integrity, security, and consistency across various databases will also be a key part of your responsibilities. In addition, troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues and performance bottlenecks, performing database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures, as well as monitoring database health and addressing potential issues proactively are essential tasks. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and implement complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views. - Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and database schema design. - Ensure data integrity, security, and consistency across various databases. - Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks. - Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures. - Monitor database health and proactively identify and address potential issues. Qualifications Required: - Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with database platforms such as DB2 and MySQL. - Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation tasks related to database operations. - Understanding and application of data modeling principles and best practices. In this role, you will also collaborate with and manage relationships with external vendors providing database-related services or tools. Evaluating vendor performance, ensuring adherence to SLAs, and participating in vendor selection and onboarding processes may be required. Your interaction with business users is crucial as you work closely with them to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Providing technical support and guidance on data-related queries and issues, as well as effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, are important aspects of your job. Gathering requirements, providing feedback, and ensuring that database solutions meet business needs will also be part of your responsibilities. Documentation is a key aspect of this role, where you will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database designs, processes, and procedures. Adherence to established documentation standards is essential for effective communication and knowledge sharing. Furthermore, compliance with data privacy and security policies and procedures, as well as participation in audits to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, are critical responsibilities. Continuous improvement is encouraged in this role, where staying updated with the latest database technologies and industry best practices is necessary.
