Job Description

Job Purpose:

To design, develop, and maintain SQL-based databases and reporting systems to support business operations and decision-making. The role involves developing complex queries, stored procedures, and Crystal Reports for management dashboards and operational analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Development & Management

Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

Maintain and improve database performance, indexing, and normalization.

Support data migration, integration, and backup processes.

Work closely with application teams to ensure seamless database connectivity and performance.

2. Reporting & Analytics

Develop and maintain Crystal Reports and dashboards for various departments (Finance, Sales, Production, Inventory, HR, etc.).

Create parameterized, dynamic, and drill-down reports as per business needs.

Schedule automated report generation and email delivery.

Convert manual MIS into automated SQL-based reports.

3. Business Support

Understand departmental data requirements and translate them into SQL reports.

Provide ad-hoc data analysis and troubleshooting support to management.

Collaborate with ERP and application teams for report customization.

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in all reports.

4. Documentation & Maintenance

Maintain report inventory, change logs, and query documentation.

Prepare data dictionaries, table structures, and dependency maps.

Ensure compliance with data management and IT policies.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in SQL Server (T-SQL) or other relational databases (Oracle/MySQL).

Hands-on experience with Crystal Reports (design, formulas, subreports, parameters, scheduling).

Knowledge of SSRS / Power BI / Excel integration (added advantage).

Understanding of database normalization, performance tuning, and indexing.

Experience with ERP or manufacturing database structures preferred.

Analytical & Business Skills:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.

Good understanding of financial and operational data flows.

Ability to convert business requirements into data solutions.

Soft Skills:

Detail-oriented, proactive, and structured approach to work.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Education Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech / MCA / M.Sc (Computer Science / IT) / BCA

Certification in SQL / Crystal Reports / BI tools (preferred)

Performance Indicators (Measurable Goals):

100% accuracy and timeliness of scheduled reports.

Reduction in manual data preparation time by 30%.

Implementation of at least X new Crystal Reports per quarter.

Average report generation time optimized by 20%.

User satisfaction rating 90% on report usability and accuracy.
