SQA BSP Engineer

Position: SQA BSP Engineer

Job Brief:

We are building technologies and platforms for the next generation of consumer electronics products; top semiconductor companies are our customers.

From consumer electronics to hyperscalars to communications and automotive, chips used across all these domains contain platform software or device driver code written by Vayavyalabs.

Responsibilities:

• Understanding how all elements of the system software ecosystem work together and developing QA approaches that fit the overall strategy.
• Responsible for development of test strategies and creation of appropriate test harnesses.
• Providing test infrastructure to enable engineering teams to test and own the quality of the services.
• Being a stakeholder of the release to ensure defects are fixed per SLA and end customer experience are protected and improved
• Development and execution of test plans, monitoring and reporting on test execution and quality metrics.

• Coordinating with the offshore Quality Service team on test execution and sign-off

Basic Qualifications:

• Expertise in initial power-on validation and smoke tests on new hardware prototypes.
• Expertise in verification of board-level functionality, including power rails and clock signals, using tools like oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
• Expertise in validating bootloader (e.g., U-Boot) functionality, verifying boot sequences, device initialization, and successful handoff to the OS kernel.
• Expertise in designing, developing, and manually executing comprehensive test plans and test cases for BSP components, including device drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, CAN, VoIP and USB.
• Should have performed rigorous functional, negative, and boundary-case testing on core kernel features, memory management, and interrupt handling.
• Expertise in validating system-level behaviors tied to the BSP, such as boot time, power management features (suspend/resume), and thermal performance.
• Should have worked on validating the higher-level software stacks that depend directly on the BSP, such as multimedia and networking components.
• Programming new boards using JTAG or scripts, or batch files.
• Reproducing Kernel panics and crash dump log analysis.
• Log-based issue reproduction and verification.
• ‘pytest’ framework scripting required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding complex I/O protocols like Ethernet/Wi-Fi, DHCP, PCIe, USB, Bluetooth, etc. is a plus.
• Exposure to pre-Silicon validation of SoCs in Simulation/Emulation Environments is a plus
