I. Key Responsibilities

A. Cricket Coaching & Development (Approx. 60% of Time)

  • Skill Instruction:

    Plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions focusing on all facets of cricket (batting, bowling, fielding, wicket-keeping) for various skill levels, from beginners to elite performers.
  • Tactical & Strategic Planning:

    Develop effective game plans, strategies, and tactics for inter-academy and university-level competitions, including match-day management.
  • Performance Analysis:

    Utilize video analysis and other technology to assess individual and team performance, providing constructive and actionable feedback.
  • Team Management:

    Oversee the selection, management, and mentorship of cricket teams, fostering a culture of discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and commitment.
  • Program Management:

    Plan and manage the annual cricket calendar, including pre-season training, in-season competition, and off-season skill maintenance.

B. Sports Fitness & Conditioning (Approx. 40% of Time)

  • Fitness Assessment:

    Conduct comprehensive fitness assessments (strength, speed, agility, endurance, flexibility) for all student-athletes (not limited to cricket) to identify strengths and areas for development.
  • Program Design:

    Design and implement personalized and group

    Strength & Conditioning (S&C)

    programs tailored to the specific demands of cricket and other sports, focusing on injury prevention and performance enhancement.
  • Training Delivery:

    Lead dynamic training sessions in the gym and on the field, utilizing appropriate training methodologies (e.g., HIIT, functional fitness, periodization).
  • Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation:

    Work closely with the Academy's physiotherapist/medical staff to develop and implement pre-habilitation and safe return-to-play protocols for injured athletes.
  • Nutritional Guidance:

    Provide basic, evidence-informed advice on sports nutrition and hydration to support training and recovery.

C. Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of all training sessions, fitness testing results, and athlete progress.
  • Ensure all coaching and training activities adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and safeguarding policies of Woxsen University.
  • Manage and maintain coaching and fitness equipment, ensuring proper use and storage.
  • Liaise effectively with students, parents, faculty, and the Sports Director regarding athlete progress and program updates.

II. Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Education:

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Coaching, or a related field (B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed. strongly preferred).
  • Coaching Certification:

    Minimum

    BCCI Level 1/Level 2

    or equivalent Cricket Coaching Certification.
  • Fitness Certification:

    Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), or equivalent certification in Sports Fitness/Strength & Conditioning.
  • Experience:

  • Minimum of

    3-5 years

    of professional coaching experience in Cricket at a competitive level (University, State, or Academy).
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering sports-specific strength and conditioning programs.

Desirable

  • Playing experience in first-class or international cricket.
  • Proficiency in using sports analysis software (e.g., video analysis tools).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

    Deep, up-to-date knowledge of modern cricket techniques, rules, and strategies, alongside a strong foundation in applied exercise science, biomechanics, and periodization.
  • Leadership & Communication:

    Exceptional leadership, motivational, and mentoring skills. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and inspiringly to students, staff, and parents.
  • Analytical Ability:

    Skill in observing, analyzing, and diagnosing technical flaws and physical limitations in athletes, and prescribing effective interventions.
  • Organizational Skills:

    Excellent time management and organizational skills to successfully manage the dual responsibilities of coaching and fitness training.
  • Professionalism:

    Highest level of integrity, dedication, and commitment to the academic and athletic success of Woxsen students.
