Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled SolidWorks Design Engineer to design robotic systems, mechanisms, and custom machines for DSI Robotics. The candidate must have strong mechanical design fundamentals, hands-on SolidWorks expertise, and good understanding of fabrication feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Create

  3D/2D designs

  of robots, ROV components, mechanisms, machine parts, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Design complete mechanical systems including frames, housings, linkages, shafts, gears, brackets, and custom precision components.
• Prepare

  detailed manufacturing drawings

  with GD&T.
• Develop and maintain

  BOMs (Bill of Materials)

  .
• Coordinate with vendors for fabrication feasibility and design improvements.
• Support prototype assembly and troubleshoot design issues.
• Perform design optimization for performance and durability.
• Carry out basic engineering calculations: load, stress, torque, and tolerance stack-up.
• Collaborate with R&D team for new product development.

Robotics & Machine Design Knowledge:

• Mechanism design (linkages, sliders, gears, pulleys)
• Fabricated machine frames & structures
• Shafts, bearings, couplings
• Motorgearbox integration
• ROV or automation system components (preferred)
  

Manufacturing Knowledge:

• Sheet metal fabrication
• CNC machining
• Laser cutting, bending, welding
• Basic knowledge of 3D printing / injection molding (preferred)

Engineering Fundamentals:

• GD&T
• Tolerance stack-up
• Material selection
• Fasteners and standard machine elements
• Basic mechanical calculations (stress, load, torque)
  

Documentation Skills:

• BOM creation and management
• Accurate manufacturing drawings
• Revision control
• DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Robotics, ROVs, Automation, or Machine Manufacturing
• Knowledge of pneumatics/hydraulics (optional)
• Exposure to assembly/testing environments
  

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals with practical design understanding
• Can work independently and take ownership of designs
• Hands-on approach and understanding of shop-floor fabrication processes
