Prompt & Small Language Model (SLM) Specialist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Prompt Engineering & SLM Optimization

  • Create, refine, and test

    prompts

    to generate K–12 math items, explanations, solutions, and assessments.
  • Optimize prompts for accuracy, grade-level alignment, and pedagogical correctness.
  • Work with SLM/LMM tools to improve clarity, reasoning, and bias reduction in math outputs.

AI Output Review & Validation

  • Evaluate AI-generated math content for accuracy, curriculum alignment, difficulty level, and clarity.
  • Fix errors in AI-generated questions, explanations, diagrams, and step-by-step solutions.
  • Ensure content supports conceptual understanding and multiple representation methods.

Curriculum & Standards Alignment

  • Ensure AI-generated content aligns with

    Common Core

    , state standards, and K–12 math learning progressions.
  • Tag items by skill, cognitive level, and standard.

Workflow & Collaboration

  • Work with editors, instructional designers, and product teams to integrate AI outputs into projects.
  • Provide feedback to the AI team on prompt performance and model behavior.
  • Help design scalable prompt libraries, templates, and math reasoning patterns for internal use.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

    Mathematics, Math Education, STEM, or related field

    .
  • Strong knowledge of

    K–12 math concepts

    (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, calculus foundations).
  • Experience with

    AI/SLM tools

    , prompt crafting, or AI-assisted content creation.
  • Familiarity with US curriculum frameworks (Common Core, State Standards).
  • Ability to validate mathematical reasoning and catch conceptual or procedural errors.
  • Strong written communication and ability to write clean, structured prompts.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in content development or teaching K–12 math.
  • Understanding of generative AI behavior, hallucination patterns, and prompt-testing methods.
  • Experience with LMS, digital content, or EdTech tools.
  • Ability to create structured datasets or prompt libraries for math items.
