Site Engineer

Job Summary:

The Site Engineer for Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) laying will be responsible for managing and supervising all on-site activities related to underground OFC deployment. This includes trenching, ducting, cable laying, splicing, and coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and local authorities to ensure timely and quality execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor day-to-day field activities of OFC laying including trenching, HDD, duct laying, cable pulling, and backfilling.
• Ensure proper implementation of engineering designs, route plans, and technical standards at the site.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and labor teams to ensure productivity and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Monitor progress and prepare daily/weekly reports on site work status and quality.
• Conduct field surveys and feasibility checks for new OFC routes.
• Liaise with local authorities, municipal bodies, and utility service providers for necessary permissions and clearances.
• Ensure proper cable splicing, jointing, testing (OTDR, power meter), and closure installation.
• Maintain quality standards as per project specifications and client requirements.
• Identify and resolve field-level issues promptly to avoid delays.
• Ensure proper documentation and handover after completion of work.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering.
• 1–5 years of experience in OFC laying or telecom infrastructure projects.
• Sound knowledge of OFC laying methodologies (HDD/Open trench), splicing, and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with project documentation, quality and safety practices.
• Strong communication, coordination, and team management skills.
• Willingness to travel and stay at project sites as required.
