Shift Incharge

Roles & Responsibilities

• Check and inspect equipment / process parameters viz. Sulphur level, temperature, molten Sulphur level, drip acid, air pressure, cooling water pressure, steam pressure, etc., report major abnormalities and maintain a defect register

• Respond to emergencies, escalate major breakdowns to shift Incharge and manage the emergency to the best of ability

• Operate the Sulphuric Acid ; Dimethyl sulphate in an efficient and safe manner

• Collaborate with the concerned Maintenance team to schedule maintenance jobs on priority basis

• Ensure appropriate takeover of equipment like pumps, motors, etc. post maintenance completion and give feedback regarding the equipment performance and running condition

• Regularly track and record various critical process parameters and take readings as per SOP / SWI; in case of any major abnormalities, follow the SOP / SWI to engage with superiors and seek instructions as required

• Perform jobs as per schedule / planned shutdown / commissioning of equipment or process

• Read & fill log book, take over from previous shift, understand on-going issues, report to the shift Incharge follow instructions / take quick decisions to rectify and resolve the same

• Ensure proper tools, materials, consumables are available and used; if any tools or measurement instruments are being used, ensure that they are calibrated, and use the proper tool for the related job.

• Identify hazards, conduct safety and near-miss observations ensure safety reporting at the end of the shift

• Facilitate the QC activities and provide samples of the raw material, in-process material and finished goods to the QC team and seek feedback on the reports and make changes to reach the required quality of output product as per specifications

• Undertake skill development of new trainee Operators through on the job training

• Effectively transition to other shifts and provide shift reporting at the end of the shift, including making entries in the log book
