Job Description

Job Summary: The Shearing Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining power shears and cutting equipment to cut metal sheets or plates into specified dimensions. The operator ensures cuts are accurate, workpieces meet quality standards, and safety procedures are strictly followed. Key Responsibilities: Operate shearing machines to cut sheet metal and plate according to job specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine cutting specifications. Set machine parameters such as blade clearance, back gauge, and stroke length. Inspect materials for defects and measure cut pieces to ensure accuracy. Perform routine maintenance on machines and ensure cutting tools are sharp and in good condition. Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality. Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Record production data such as quantities, dimensions, and operational logs. Collaborate with other production team members to optimize workflow and resolve issues. Identify and report malfunctions or mechanical issues to maintenance personnel. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience operating shearing machines or similar metal cutting equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools like tape measures, calipers, and micrometers. Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes. Attention to detail and strong focus on quality and safety. Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with hydraulic or CNC-controlled shearing machines. Basic welding or fabrication knowledge.
