The Site Reliability Operations (SRO) team is part of the broader Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization and is responsible for ensuring the reliability and operational stability of Warner Bros. Discoverys global streaming platforms.
The Senior Site Reliability Operations Specialist is a highly experienced hands-on role within the 24/7 operations team, supporting Live, VOD, OTT, and Digital Playout services across WBDs streaming brands. You will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with Staff Specialists and Operations Managers to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, rapid incident resolution, and consistent service quality.
In this role, you will independently manage complex operational issues, actively participate in major incident response, and provide guidance to Specialists and Analysts. You will focus on maintaining service reliability for high-profile live sports, premium VOD releases, and large-scale market launches, while continuing to build deep expertise in cloud infrastructure and streaming workflows.
This is a fast-paced, shift-based, on-site role requiring flexibility across weekends, public holidays, and overnight coverage during major events and launches.
- Act as a senior operational contact for technical and service-related issues within the SRO team.
- Participate in and support major incident management across WBDs Digital and Streaming platforms, following established incident processes.
- Perform detailed incident triage, mitigation, and coordination with engineering and support teams to drive timely resolution.
- Own post-incident follow-ups, including contributing to root cause analysis reports and tracking action items.
- Monitor quality of service, quality of experience, and non-linear output across live and VOD content.
- Support daily operations including live event readiness, deployments, releases, and platform changes.
- Ensure incidents, alerts, and requests are handled within agreed SLAs and documented accurately.
- Produce clear operational updates and shift handover summaries.
- Actively support onboarding of new tools, applications, and processes, contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to Specialists and Analysts.
- Collaborate with Operations Managers, DevOps, and engineering teams to improve operational workflows and reliability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, stability, and automation.
- Proven ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure, time-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of OTT video delivery workflows, including Live and VOD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of CDNs (Content Delivery Networks).
- Hands-on experience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure platforms.
- Experience using monitoring and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, Grafana, Splunk, DataDog, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with QoE and client-side monitoring tools such as Conviva, MUX, Firebase, Witbe, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of ITIL and/or Agile operational principles.
- Proficiency with incident and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, and PagerDuty.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated willingness to support team goals, collaborate cross-functionally, and continuously develop technical expertise.
