Senior Molecular Biotech Associate

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze biological, mineral, and chemical samples using advanced wet lab techniques.
• Conduct molecular biology assays including DNA cloning, CRISPR editing, genetic engineering, protein expression, and purification.
• Perform experiments using analytical instruments such as XRF, AAS, ICP-MS, HPLC, and spectrophotometers.
• Engineer, express, purify, and characterize proteins/enzymes for environmental remediation applications.
• Develop and optimize gene-to-protein workflows in bacterial and yeast expression systems.
• Support bio-mineral integration experiments, including leaching, dissolution, and flotation trials.
• Conduct feasibility studies and bench-scale testing for heavy-metal removal and water purification.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment and manage reagent inventory.
• Document procedures and results accurately in electronic lab notebooks and digital systems.
• Analyze experimental data using statistical and computational tools.
• Present findings in internal reports, presentations, and cross-functional reviews.
• Contribute to IP development, literature reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with senior scientists and external partners to scale processes.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety, environmental, and QA/GLP standards

Preferred candidate profile

• Masters degree or PhD

  in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Synthetic Biology, or related field.

• Between 1-3 years of hands-on experience

  in:
• Molecular cloning, CRISPR, genetic engineering, and protein expression systems
• Functional assays, enzyme kinetics, and protein characterization
• Chromatography (HPLC/FPLC), SDS-PAGE, and spectrophotometry

• Preferred experience with:

• ICP-MS and metal-binding assays
• Genetic design software (Benchling, SnapGene)
• Mining, wastewater treatment, or bioremediation applications
• Strong troubleshooting skills across wet-lab workflows.
• Understanding of heavy-metal interactions, chelation, or surface-binding proteins is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
