Job Description

Position Summary... Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Design Manager, you will lead end-to-end user experience efforts on cross-functional product teams, driving strategy, execution, and outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who balances visionary leadership with craft excellence, guides service and product design outcomes, and deeply embeds design thinking across the product lifecycle.
You will shape the book of work, set a vision for your domain, and act as a coach and thought partner for other designers. Your impact will be felt not just in design outputs, but in how your team influences roadmaps, business priorities, and the overall user experience.
  • Set and evangelize a design vision across your domain of ownership, aligning with business goals and customer needs.
  • Partner with product and engineering leads to define the book of work and roadmap priorities.
  • Regularly lead and facilitate Design Sprints and apply Service Design thinking to create holistic solutions across touchpoints.
  • Balance digital trends, user needs, and data to drive strategic recommendations and innovation.
  • Inspire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of designers, supporting career development and craft growth.
  • Coach team members to deliver market-leading solutions while fostering accountability and autonomy.
Improve the capability and cohesion of the broader team through active participation in leadership forums and team-wide initiatives
  • Guide teams in tailoring design methods to specific tasks and ensure rigorous UX execution across multiple tracks.
  • Deliver feedback across design disciplines including UI design, content design, service design, illustration, and prototyping.
  • Ensure strategic use of prototypes to test, validate, and evolve user experiences.
  • Champion high-quality design outcomes that connect business value with user-centered practices.
  • Lead narrative design and storytelling to articulate UX impact across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Proactively identify gaps in partner or stakeholder understanding, and collaboratively use design and research to address them.
  • Clearly communicate design intent, tradeoffs, and user value to non-design audiences.
  • Influence product roadmaps and user outcomes through we'll-grounded UX perspectives.
  • Collaborate seamlessly at both the micro (feature-level) and macro (portfolio-level) to harmonize UX direction.
  • Lead initiatives to advance UX maturity, measure and communicate success, and evolve design practices at scale
What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of experience in product or UX design, with 3+ years managing designers.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional product teams and shipping impactful digital experiences.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design execution, including design sprints, service design frameworks, and high-fidelity prototyping.
  • Deep understanding of design thinking, user-centered design, and agile product development.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience balancing business objectives with user needs to inform and influence decision-making.
  • Experience in enterprise systems, e-commerce, logistics, or large-scale digital platforms.
  • Background in design operations, service design mapping, or product strategy is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Miro, FigJam, Adobe CC, and prototyping software.
  • Skilled in cross-discipline leadership, partnering with researchers, writers, and systems designers
  • An influential voice with a strong point of view on design, UX excellence, and customer impact.
  • The ability to think big while sweating the details.
  • A passion for growing people, systems, and impact through design
Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelors degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 7 years experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
2 years supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications...

Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate), Driving product development in a user experience area, Masters degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area, Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare), UI/UX, Interactive and Visual Design, Electronics Art, Multimedia Design, or related area
