Senior Manager-Design

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Design Engineer to lead the design and development of Defence equipment, including mobile launcher systems, weapon loading trolleys, and transport-cum-loader vehicles for missiles. The candidate will be responsible for concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, testing support, and final delivery of robust, reliable, and safe Defence systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the conceptual and detailed mechanical design of mobile launcher systems, weapon loading trolleys, transport-cum-loader vehicles, and similar Defence equipment.
• Develop mechanical structures, mechanisms, and assemblies with focus on strength, durability, safety, and compliance with Defence standards.
• Conduct design calculations, stress analysis, and material selection for critical components.
• Prepare technical documentation in line with Defence and industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hydraulics, electrical, electronics, and control systems for integrated design.
• Interact with Defence agencies and certification bodies to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
• Support prototype manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing at production facilities and Defence proving grounds.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in mechanical design of heavy equipment, vehicles, or Defence ground support systems.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks).
• Sound knowledge of metallurgy, welding, fabrication, machining, hydraulics and assembly procedures
• Experience in structural analysis (FEA), fatigue analysis, and tolerance stack-up.
• Knowledge of military standards (MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC, JSS, or equivalent) for mechanical design, structural integrity, environmental testing, and safety compliance.”
• Strong problem-solving, innovation, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Eligibility Criteria:

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in Defence or aerospace domain.
• Proven track record in designing and delivering Defence equipment or specialized vehicles.
