Senior Manager Battery Assembly

Department:

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the battery pack assembly operations

    for electric buses, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of

    battery technology

    , BMS integration, thermal management, and quality control
  • Supervise the

    design for manufacturability (DFM)

    and

    design for assembly (DFA)

    reviews in collaboration with R&D and engineering teams.
  • Oversee the

    integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS)

    , thermal systems, wiring harnesses, enclosures, and safety mechanisms.
  • Drive the

    industrialization of new battery pack designs

    , working closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production).
  • Implement and monitor

    production KPIs

    , quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Ensure strict adherence to

    safety protocols, hazardous material handling

    , and regulatory compliance (AIS-048, AIS-038, ISO 26262, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendors for battery cells/modules procurement and support localization efforts.
  • Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the battery assembly plant.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of

    battery architecture, cell formats (cylindrical, prismatic, pouch)

    , and safety systems.
  • Hands-on experience in

    battery pack production lines

    , jig/fixture development, and automation systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with quality standards like

    IATF 16949

    ,

    ISO 9001

    , and EV-specific standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional technical teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with thermal management systems (liquid/air-cooled packs).
  • Knowledge of

    battery testing protocols (IEC 62660, UN 38.3)

  • Exposure to high-voltage safety standards and energy storage compliance norms.
  • Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools (MES, ERP, PLM).
  • Knowledge of cell to pack concept.
  • Exposure to work control environment (Temperature, Moisture and Dust)
