Senior Manager Battery Assembly Department: Production Location: Olectra Plant Hyderabad Reporting to: Plant Head Experience: 12+ years Education: B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/Automotive /Electrical/Production Job Summary: A highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager Battery Assembly to lead our electric bus battery pack assembly operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, NMC), pack design, thermal management systems, BMS integration, and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end battery pack assembly, quality, safety compliance, and supporting new product development and industrialization for electric buses. Key Responsibilities: Lead the battery pack assembly operations for electric buses, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and safety standards. Strong knowledge of battery technology , BMS integration, thermal management, and quality control Supervise the design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) reviews in collaboration with R&D and engineering teams. Oversee the integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) , thermal systems, wiring harnesses, enclosures, and safety mechanisms. Drive the industrialization of new battery pack designs , working closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production). Implement and monitor production KPIs , quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen). Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, hazardous material handling , and regulatory compliance (AIS-048, AIS-038, ISO 26262, etc.). Coordinate with vendors for battery cells/modules procurement and support localization efforts. Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the battery assembly plant. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of battery architecture, cell formats (cylindrical, prismatic, pouch) , and safety systems. Hands-on experience in battery pack production lines , jig/fixture development, and automation systems is a plus. Familiarity with quality standards like IATF 16949 , ISO 9001 , and EV-specific standards. Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional technical teams. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Experience with thermal management systems (liquid/air-cooled packs). Knowledge of battery testing protocols (IEC 62660, UN 38.3) . Exposure to high-voltage safety standards and energy storage compliance norms. Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools (MES, ERP, PLM). Knowledge of cell to pack concept. Exposure to work control environment (Temperature, Moisture and Dust) Team Management. Task Management. Financial Acumen.
