About the Role This is a Senior Magento 2 Developer position with a primary focus on back-end development (approximately 80%) . The successful candidate will take full ownership of maintaining and improving the Magento platform, including bug fixes, security and performance updates, and building custom features. Candidates must have strong Magento 2 and PHP experience and be capable of working independently after onboarding. What You’ll Be Doing Own and maintain the Magento 2 platform: performance, updates, and feature enhancements Implement security patches and version upgrades Troubleshoot and fix bugs; improve performance Handle end-to-end delivery of technical solutions, mostly back-end Occasionally assist with front-end tasks such as page layout or basic theming Must-Have Skills 3+ years of experience with Magento 2 (core requirement) Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL Experience with HTML, CSS, and LESS (assumed with Magento experience) Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively in English Comfortable performing both back-end and occasional front-end tasks (theme integration, page building) Nice-to-Have Skills Magento certification Experience with Magento performance tuning, upgrades, and debugging At least 3 years of hands-on experience creating and maintaining Magento modules Previous contributions to Magento-related open-source projects Key Deliverables in the First 90 Days Month 1 Understand the full architecture, extensions, and customizations of the Magento 2 store Skills required: Magento 2, PHP Month 2 Audit site performance and assess technical debt; recommend solutions Skills required: Magento 2, MySQL Month 3 Implement key updates and fixes based on audit findings Skills required: Magento 2, PHP, JavaScript Why Smart Workers Love It Here Fixed Shifts: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM IST (Winter) No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just words Day 1 Benefits: Laptop and full medical insurance provided Support That Matters: Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are shared True Belonging: A long-term home where your contributions are valued At Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.
