Senior Lighting Artist

Position Overview

Lighting Team creates lighting and shading techniques and delivers the final renderings to the image composition department, while supporting lighting artists within his project team. In particular, he/she must answer questions, offer advice, and help solve problems in a positive and constructive way.

Applicants presenting highly realistic work in their portfolio, will be reviewed with a priority. You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and those working in other departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and to brief. You have previously lit and rendered wide-ranging assets generated by Houdini effects artists, modelers, texture artists, and animators. Your ability to own your work is highly regarded by your previous employers. As a professional lighting artist, you provide confidence to production because you have absolute clarity in what is expected of you in terms of lighting consistency and shot delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with CG Supervisors/Leads, and lighting artists to determine the best approaches to develop final looks.
• Lighting artists also work closely with compositors to seamlessly integrated with live-action plates.
• Strong understanding of rendering techniques
• Experience with Texture Painting, 3D Modeling or Look
• Development would be an added advantage• Expected to manage personal as well as team milestones and deadlines
• Experience in a VFX environment
• Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to work within a team. Attention to detail, and taking direction

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a lighting artist in the VFX industry
• Knowledge of Katana is a must.
• Experience in Houdini, Mantra, and Arnold
• Knowledge of Solaris will be desired
• Knowledge of Shotgun/Shotgrid project management software
• Excellent knowledge of color in a film pipeline
• Excellent sense of priorities and timeliness.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and act as a positive role model and mentor
