Senior Lab Chemist

Role & responsibilities:

Raw Material & Incoming QC

• Review and approve testing of all raw materials (silicone base polymers, fillers, crosslinkers, additives) as per specifications.
• Develop, update, and validate raw material test methods.

In-Process & Final Product Testing

• Plan, supervise, and perform testing on in-process batches and finished goods.
• Conduct critical property checks: viscosity, specific gravity, hardness (Shore A),tensile & elongation, cure time, adhesion tests (peel, lap shear), weatherability, and durability.

Method Development & Troubleshooting

• Develop and refine testing methods for new products or new customer requirements.
• Analyses non-conformances, investigate quality complaints, and recommend corrective actions.

R&D & Formulation Support

• Assist R&D team with lab-scale formulations, pilot trials, and product validation.
• Conduct comparative studies of competitor products.

Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure lab records, COAs, test reports, MSDS, calibration records, and QC checklists are accurate and up to date.
• Ensure lab compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and any customer-specific standards.
• Support internal & external audits.

Team & Equipment Management

• Supervise and guide junior lab chemists and lab assistants.
• Train new chemists on SOPs, safe chemical handling, and proper test procedures.
• Oversee calibration, upkeep, and troubleshooting of lab instruments (viscometer, durometer, rheometer, FTIR, GC, etc.).

Preferred candidate profile:

• Good understanding of silicone chemistry, crosslinking systems, and additives.
• Familiarity with international standards (ISO, ASTM) for sealants.
• Hands-on experience with testing standards such as ISO 11600, ASTM C920, ASTM C661, etc.
