Job Description

Patient financial assessment:
Evaluate a patient's financial status and their ability to pay for medical services.
Insurance education:
Explain a patient's insurance benefits, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and benefit limits.
Cost explanation:
Clearly communicate the total cost of a planned treatment and the patient's out-of-pocket expenses.
Financial assistance:
Guide patients through the application process for financial aid programs and identify potential funding sources.
Payment plans:
Develop and manage affordable payment plans for self-pay patients with outstanding balances.
Billing and accounts:
Ensure reimbursement for services provided to uninsured or under-insured patients, and follow up on outstanding claims.
Coordination and communication:
Work with internal departments, outside resources, and pharmaceutical companies to secure payment and grants for patients.
Administrative duties:
Complete necessary paperwork, maintain accurate records in the practice management system, and assist with training support staff on new processes.
