Job Description

Role Overview: The Cisco Distributed System Engineering (DSE) group is leading the development of products for the world's largest networks amidst a significant industry transformation. The team focuses on harnessing open-source technologies, pushing boundaries in Systems and Silicon Architecture, and collaborating with open-source communities and technologies. As a Senior Engineering Manager in the SONiC team, you will manage engineers, collaborate with other engineering managers globally, and oversee end-to-end product development and production support. Key Responsibilities: - Manage a team of 5-8 full-time employees dedicated to designing and developing high-quality networking products. - Lead the development and deployment of software solutions using SONiC for hardware infrastructure and platform-level components, ensuring delivery milestones and quality metrics are met. - Engage with hardware teams to optimize hardware-software interactions and leverage SONiC interfaces for exposing hardware capabilities. - Participate in system architecture and design discussions, coordinate activities across software, hardware, QA, and systems integration teams. - Collaborate with product management and customers to align deliverables with business objectives, understand use cases, and gather requirements. - Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance development and testing cycles. - Serve as a key liaison with open-source SONiC communities, contributing to upstream development and leveraging community innovations. Qualification Required: - Around 18-20 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years of management experience, including managing 5-8 full-time employees. - Proven track record in leading product teams for high-quality networking products, involved in performance evaluation, salary planning, budgeting, and forecasting. - Experience with platform infrastructure like ASIC drivers, NPU, BMC, Optics, and network OS development, as well as virtualization, containerization, and orchestration frameworks. - Strong background in software development on Linux platforms or network operating systems like SONiC. - Skilled in leading agile development teams, promoting innovation, and process improvements to enhance team productivity. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation abilities, and a focus on team development and competencies.
