Role Overview
The purpose of this role is to lead a team of skilled engineers in developing and delivering middleware operations service, covering a large volume of servers and many underpinning technologies.
- Responsible for defining and delivering the service levels and KPIs
- Work with other Engineering Managers to drive improvements to the application landscape
- Implement and maintain monitoring across all the mw applications with right alert response built into it.
- Maintain production systems around application and infrastructure outages
- Stay on top of all operational issues and track them to closure.
- Perform blameless post-mortems and produce RCA document along with risk mitigations
- Manage all risks and their mitigation plan to track them to closure
- Create and manage the support rota to fulfil the support needs
- Develop the culture of documentation to maintain SOPs, post-mortems etc.,
- Demonstrate anticipation and initiative in the planning for and management of issues
- Maintain good business relationship with other teams to ensure success of enhancements and fixes
We are looking for:
- 14+ years of experience in operations role with more weight towards managing middleware apps/platforms.
- 5+ years of experience as senior engineer who has done hands on support with middleware applications as well as acted team lead in that space
- Built observability solutions with effective dashboards and alert mechanism
- Should have fundamental experience with middleware technologies like Oracle Fusion MW technologies, Tomcat Apache, WebSphere, IIS, MQ etc.,
- Good working knowledge with setting up and using monitoring tools.
Business & Technical Skills:
- Skilled stakeholder- and people manager with the ability to communicate complex messages, constructively challenge Product Owners and related stakeholders
- Ability guide engineers through resolving issues and performing RCAs
- Setting and leading high performing-, skilled- and impactful teams
- Has worked on scalable solutions in a fast paced environment including experience from project management on multiple platforms
Other Skills:
- An excellent team player, balanced with strong autonomy and high motivation to deliver and lead
- An out-of-the-box-thinker with an open mind who is intrigued by new ideas and innovative solutions
- Working proactively to learn new technologies and is an inspiration to team and colleagues
- CSI at the core of operating the support process
Qualifications:
- IT or Computer Science engineering degree preferred
- Needs to have a solid understanding of agile processes
- Managerial skills – preferably from an agile setting
- Fluent proficiency in both written and oral English
