Senior Electrical Design Engineer/Electrical Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the electrical engineering design process for building and infrastructure projects.

• Lead the development of detailed electrical drawings including Power distribution (MV/LV), Lighting and emergency lighting, Fire alarm and life safety system, ELV, ICT, access control, and security system, Earthing and lightning protection.
• Lead the production of electrical system drawings (power, lighting, ELV, fire alarm, earthing, etc.) across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Prepare and review load schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations.
• Approve SLDs, schematics, layouts, and equipment schedules for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain uniformity in drawings, annotations, and production standards across all deliverables.
• Plan, prioritise, and manage design production activities across several ongoing projects.
• Monitor deadlines and ensure timely delivery of design packages in line with project schedules.
• Allocate production tasks to junior engineers/draftsmen and supervise progress.
• Track submission schedules for tenders, IFC drawings, and authority approvals to avoid delays.

BIM & CAD Management

• Oversee Revit MEP and AutoCAD models for multiple projects at LOD 300350.
• Ensure clash detection issues are resolved within timeframes.
• Maintain project BEPs (BIM Execution Plans) related to electrical systems.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate electrical deliverables with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural teams.
• Participate in project and client/consultant coordination meetings to resolve design/production issues.
• Support authority approval submissions (DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, SEC, etc.).
• Guide and mentor junior electrical engineers and draftsmen.
• Review their work to ensure technical quality and consistency.
• Provide training on standards, software tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, etc.), and design procedures.

Quality Control & Leadership

• Review junior engineers and draughtmen outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct internal QA/QC checks on production deliverables before submission.
• Mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, and promote best practices in design production.
• Conduct internal design reviews (QA/QC).
• Implement best practices and standard templates in electrical design deliverables.
• Review contractor/shop drawings and technical submittals.
