Senior Data Modeler + Data Engineer (7 10 Years Experience)

Microsoft Fabric ( Highly Desirable ) / Azure Expert | Data Modelling + Data Warehousing + Engineering

This is a role combining advanced data modelling expertise with strong hands-on data engineering capability. The candidate will lead the design of enterprise data models and actively build ingestion, transformation and ELT/ETL pipelines across Azure/Microsoft Fabric.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Modelling Architecture: Design and optimise conceptual, logical and physical data models; create dimensional schemas; set standards; collaborate with subject matter experts.
• Data Engineering: Build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines; implement transformations and layered architecture; integrate data from multiple sources; ensure performance and compliance with platform patterns.
• Data Warehouse: Architect lakehouse/warehouse structures; implement fact/dimension tables and semantic models; review engineering outputs.
• Governance Quality: Uphold governance, security and lineage standards; design validation frameworks; provide technical guidance; conduct design and code reviews.
• Implement data quality, lineage, validation and governance.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead architecture reviews.

Required Skills:

• 7 10 years of combined data modelling + data engineering experience.
• Advanced dimensional modelling expertise (star schema, snowflake, SCD Types 1/2).
• Strong SQL optimisation and performance tuning skills.
• Hands-on experience building pipelines using:
• Data Pipelines
• Dataflows
• Notebooks
• Azure Data Factory
• Strong understanding of Medallion architecture and lakehouse patterns.
• Knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet and scalable storage layers.
• Proficiency in Python/PowerShell for data engineering automation.
• Understanding of governance, lineage, access control and data quality frameworks.

Highly Desirable:

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric Warehouse, Lakehouse, Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2.
• Experience designing enterprise semantic models for BI in Power BI.
• Experience delivering solutions across Finance / Procurement / Shared Services domains.
• Experience designing semantic models for Power BI

• Certifications such as DP-600, DP-203, DP-700
