Senior Bookkeeper

Role & responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple construction projects.
  
• Handle daily data entry, general ledger updates, and transaction posting.
  
• Record accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, journal entries, and adjustments.

• Track project expenses, cost categories, labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  
• Maintain job profitability reports and assist project managers with cost clarity.
  
• Reconcile vendor charges to purchase orders, delivery slips, and job budgets.

• Create client invoices, change orders, and credit memos.
  
• Track outstanding receivables and follow up for payments when necessary.

• Process subcontractor invoices after verifying compliance (insurance, lien waivers, W-9s).
  
• Maintain accurate subcontractor ledgers and retention balances.
  
• Prepare and issue weekly or bi-weekly check runs.

• Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and lines of credit.
  
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience

  , preferably in the construction industry.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (mandatory).

• Strong understanding of

  job costing, project accounting, and AIA billing

  .
• Experience with vendor reconciliations, subcontractor payouts, and retention.
  
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and produce accurate results.
  
• Strong English communication skills for effective interaction with US teams and clients.
  
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Vlookup, Pivot Tables preferred).

• Experience with

  Procore

  or other construction management software.
• Knowledge of US accounting standards and construction compliance requirements.
  
• Background in multi-entity bookkeeping or working with CPA firms.

• Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, or relevant field (B.Com preferred).

• Must be available to collaborate during

  overlapping US working hours
