Second Class Boiler Operator

• Operate and monitor small boilers with a heating surface of up to 200 square meters or up to three connected boilers, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Perform safe start-up and shut-down procedures for boilers and associated auxiliaries, including fuel systems, water feed pumps, and compressors.
• Monitor key parameters such as water levels, steam pressure, temperature, and fuel feed; adjust controls as needed to maintain efficiency and prevent malfunctions.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including blow-down operations, cleaning of boiler components, and basic troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response drills; report any hazards or irregularities immediately.
• Assist higher-class attendants (First Class or BOE) in larger operations and maintain accurate logbooks of boiler operations, fuel consumption, and maintenance records.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards for emissions and waste management during boiler firing.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Valid Second Class Boiler Attendant Certificate of Competency issued by a State Boiler Directorate (e.g., Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu Board of Examiners).
• Minimum educational qualification: Passed 8th or 10th standard.
• At least 6-12 months of hands-on experience as a fireman, pumpman, or assistant on steam boilers (or equivalent practical training).
• Age: 18 years or above.
• Basic knowledge of boiler mechanics, steam generation, and safety under the Boiler Operation Engineers Rules, 2011.

Preferred:

• 1-2 years of experience in operating biomass, oil, or gas-fired boilers (e.g., Thermax models up to 4 Tons/hour capacity).
• Familiarity with automated boiler controls and digital monitoring systems.
• Certification in basic fire safety or first aid.
