Boiler Erection and Maintenance Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee the erection and assembly of Gas/Briquette boiler components, Thermic Fluid Heaters, including pressure vessels, piping, structural supports, firing systems, and auxiliaries, from site preparation to commissioning in projects like power plants or industrial units.
• Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on boilers, including diagnosing and fixing issues like tube failures, combustion inefficiencies, leaks, or control system malfunctions using tools and root cause analysis.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance schedules, calibration of controls and safety valves, and functional testing to ensure optimal boiler performance and compliance with IBR guidelines.
• Troubleshoot operational problems in real-time, providing on-site repairs during breakdowns or emergencies to restore functionality and prevent hazards.
• Ensure safety during erection, maintenance, and repair activities, including risk assessments, emergency response, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Supervise teams of engineers, technicians, and contractors; maintain records of progress, maintenance logs, spare parts inventory, and shift reports.
• Optimize boiler systems for energy efficiency, low emissions, and integration with related equipment like turbines or heat recovery units.
• Handle on-call duties for urgent repairs and support in planning utilities or related systems like chilling units or compressed air.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Diploma in Boiler Technology or equivalent vocational training is also acceptable.
• Experience: 3-10 years in boiler erection, commissioning, maintenance, and hands-on repair work, with proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing boiler systems in industries like pharma, chemicals, or manufacturing. Strong hands-on experience in gas or similar boilers is often required.
• Add on Certifications if any available: Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certification from state boiler boards in India; additional IBR competency, welding inspector, or safety certifications are preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• In-depth technical knowledge of boiler design, construction, operation, thermodynamics, and combustion principles, with hands-on repair skills for high-pressure systems.
• Proficiency in project management for erection phases and practical troubleshooting for maintenance and repairs.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis for boiler failures and repairs.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, pressure gauges, analyzers, welding equipment, and safety protocols.
• Physical stamina for hands-on site work, including climbing, lifting heavy parts, and working in high-temperature or confined spaces.
• Effective communication, leadership for team supervision, and ability to maintain client relations.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, travel to sites, and handle overtime for repairs or emergencies.

Work Environment and Conditions

• Location: Primarily Hyderabd and Site-based in industrial areas across India,
• Schedule: Full-time with shift work, on-call duties for repairs, and potential overtime during projects or breakdowns.
• Hazards: Exposure to high pressure, heat, and heavy machinery; requires personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict safety adherence.
• Compensation: Competitive, based on experience; includes allowances for site work and tools.
