SAP Variant Configuration (VC) Consultant

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Requirements Analysis & Design:

  Conduct in-depth analysis of business requirements related to configurable products, services, and solutions. Translate these requirements into detailed functional designs and specifications for SAP Variant Configuration models.

• VC Model Development:

  Design and build complex product configuration models within SAP, including classes, characteristics, configuration profiles, dependency types (constraints, procedures, selection conditions, actions), and variant tables.

• Configuration & Customization:

  Configure all necessary settings in SAP for Variant Configuration, ensuring accurate representation of product logic, rules, and pricing.

• Integration:

  Ensure seamless integration of SAP VC with other core SAP modules such as Sales & Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), and potentially Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Quality Management (QM).

• Pricing & BOM/Routing Integration:

  Implement variant conditions, pricing procedures, and integrate VC models with bills of material (BOMs) and routings to support configurable manufacturing and sales processes.

• Testing & Quality Assurance:

  Develop comprehensive test scenarios, create detailed test cases, and conduct thorough testing (unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing - UAT) for VC models to ensure accuracy and functionality.

• Troubleshooting & Optimization:

  Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex VC-related issues. Optimize existing VC models and configurations for performance and maintainability.

• User Training & Support:

  Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users and key stakeholders on SAP VC functionalities. Provide ongoing support for implemented solutions.

• Documentation:

  Create and maintain comprehensive functional and technical documentation for VC models, configurations, and processes.

• Collaboration:

  Work closely with business users, product managers, development teams, and other functional consultants to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with business goals.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• SAP VC Expertise:

  Strong functional knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing and supporting

  SAP Variant Configuration (VC)

  .

• Product Modeling:

  In-depth understanding of product configuration principles, complex dependencies, and configuration logic.

• SAP Module Knowledge:

  Familiarity with integration points and processes within core SAP modules such as

  SD, PP, and MM

  .

• Analytical & Problem Solving:

  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex product structures into effective SAP VC solutions.

• Technical Aptitude (Plus):

  Basic understanding of ABAP for debugging or extending VC functionalities is a plus.

• Communication & Collaboration:

  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with business users and technical teams. Ability to work collaboratively in a project-oriented environment.

• Education:

  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant SAP certifications are a plus.
