Role: Senior SAP FICO Consultant Retail (HandsOn)

Role Overview

Lead endtoend design, configuration, and troubleshooting of SAP FI in an omnichannel retail landscape, ensuring robust financial processing across store, online, and marketplace flows. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (SD/MM, CAR, EWM/TMS) and 3rdparty providers (Buyer/Store portals, Ariba, WMS/TMS, BBIC, SPS Commerce) to deliver scalable solutions with accurate financial postings, tax/compliance, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

Functional (FI Core)

Configure and optimize GL, AP, AR, AA, Bank Accounting, and CO (basic) within S/4HANA.

Design chart of accounts, document splitting, profit centers, cost centers, valuation, account determination, tax procedures, and payment programs (F110/F111).

Build closing processes (fast close, GR/IR clearing, accruals), intercompany & crosscompany codes, foreign currency & exchange rates.

Implement Bank Communication Management, Lockbox, MT940/ISO20022 CAMT statements, and in-house cash (if applicable).

Retail Integration & Controlling

Map retail transactions from CAR/Point-of-Sale (POS), Store Portal, and Buyer Portal to correct FI postings.

Ensure sales/returns/markdowns/gift cards/loyalty flows post properly to revenue, tax, liabilities (breakage, deferred revenue).

Support inventory valuation (MAP/Standard) integration with MM, WMS/TMS logistics cost allocation, and freight/tax conditions.

3rdParty Interfaces (Solution Design & Troubleshooting)

Design/own interfaces, including IDocs/OData/API/BAPIs, file/XML/JSON, and middleware (CPI/PI/PO).

Ariba: P2P/Sourcing integrationPOs, GR, invoices (incl. Ariba Network), ERS, supplier master sync, tax, and 3way match.

SAP CAR: TLOG aggregation, sales transactions, returns & promotions FI/CO postings, tender settlement, clearing accounts.

WMS/TMS: Goods movements, freight & accessorial costs, accruals, settlement integration.

BBIC (Brand/Buyer/Business Intelligence/Commerce—clarify the platform): Revenue, marketplace settlements, chargebacks, fees mapping to FI.

SPS Commerce: Retail EDI (850/855/856/810/997) impacts on order/invoice flows and FI posting/reconciliation.

Buyer/Store Portals: Orders, returns, settlements, promotions, vendor funding FI impact (AP, AR, accruals).

Establish robust error handling, reprocessing, and reconciliation reports (e.g., POS vs FI, bank vs FI, EDI vs invoice register).

Compliance & Performance

Implement GST/VAT (India/Global), einvoice, eway bill integrations (where relevant).

Support audit controls, SoD, GRC alignment, document archiving, and data privacy.

Optimize AIF/IDoc queues, CPI mappings, batch jobs, and improve close cycle time.

MustHave Skills

8–12+ years in SAP FI, with S/4HANA handson configuration and retail exposure.

Strong in integration design and troubleshooting across SAP and 3rdparty systems.

Deep knowledge of account determination, tax, Bank Accounting, payment formats, automated reconciliations.

Proven experience with Ariba, CAR, EDI via SPS Commerce, WMS/TMS, and portals.

Handson with IDocs, CPI/PI/PO mappings, error resolution, AIF, application logs, SM/SLG1 tools.

Excellent fitgap analysis, functional specs, unit/SIT/UAT test design, and cutover planning.

Comfortable with Fiori apps in S/4, BP master data, New GL, Document Splitting.

GoodtoHave

SAP RISE exposure: Cloud operations model, SAP BTP awareness, subscription/licensing, CPI integration patterns.

CO-PA, Margin Analysis, Profitability reports for retail categories/channels.

Blackline or similar reconciliation tools.

Payment gateways, marketplace settlements (Amazon/Flipkart), gift card accounting, loyalty liabilities.

Knowledge of India GST, einvoice APIs, GSTN compliance.
