About the Role



The Sales Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and technical proposals for mechanical projects within the industrial petrochemical, oil, and gas sectors. The role requires a strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with sales, engineering, and clients to secure new business.



Responsibilities



  • Cost estimation:

    Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, project specifications, and other documents.
  • Proposal preparation:

    Create comprehensive and competitive commercial and technical proposals in line with customer requirements and company policies.
  • Client interaction:

    Communicate effectively with clients to understand project scope, clarify specifications, and present proposals. This includes attending pre-bid meetings and conducting site visits to assess project requirements.
  • Vendor management:

    Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers for materials, equipment, and services. Negotiate costs to secure competitive pricing.
  • Internal collaboration:

    Work closely with the sales, engineering, and project management teams to ensure a mutual understanding of project scope and execution strategy.
  • Cost control and analysis:

    Identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures during the estimation process. Analyze completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs and refine future estimating practices.
  • Market intelligence:

    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor pricing to optimize strategies.
  • Documentation and reporting:

    Manage project documentation, maintain a cost database, and prepare regular reports on estimation activities for management.


Qualifications



  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in mechanical estimation for major industrial projects. Proven experience in the petrochemical, oil, and gas sectors, with knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., API, ASME).
