Safety Supervisor

Key responsibilities

• To ensure the safety performance of their team at all times regularly
• Alert the teams on a daily basis about the observations and make a report of the same followed by corrective actions
• To carry out safety inspection of the site and to provide clearance to our people to work onboard on a daily basis before commencement of work.
• To conduct the daily Safety briefing and Safety talks and maintain record.
• To have custody/ issuance and check of all the Safety equipment Gas detectors, Safety harness at the end of the day.
• Take dedicated & planned rounds of the various infrastructure like Scaffoldings, emergency exits, gangways, fire control system, medical aid readiness, safety nets, unbarricaded areas etc.
• Inform the HSE manager about impending risks at workplace on a daily basis.
• Check if all safe systems of work are followed on site regularly.
• Co-ordinate and liaise with Safety inspectors of the Yard on a daily basis to know about co-activities
• Ensure applicable work permit (confined space entry) is enforced for every work onboard a submarine or a site.
• Report incident/ accident to the HSE manager immediately and urgently to ensure pro-active steps.
• Liaise with the technical team members for day to day activities on board and attend co-ordination meetings.
• Make report on any health problems of an employee at site to the HSE Manager.
• Provide safety briefing and training for the employees at site, including new comers/ third party Outsourced.
• Monitor the employees on site and ensure they are always working safely
• Remain present and monitor safety during critical heavy work like crane operation, MFM lifting, BMS, EQ buoy installation, high pressure tests etc on-site and in workshops.
• Makes daily spot checks and inspections of work tools, equipment at site and take necessary corrective actions.
• Ensures that all employees comply with health and safety requirements of the organization like wearing appropriate conditioned PPE.
• Report and help the HSE Manager to investigate unsafe actions and near-misses
• Perform dynamic risk assessment on the spot and improve safe conditions of working.
• Stop work when the situation is found to be risky and inform all concerned.
• Onsite consult with workers and subcontractors and arrives at a best solution to deliver a safe working environment for all workers.
• Ensure that all employees abide by the health and safety rules existing at the yard
• Part of daily briefing is also to impart to all teams about the emergency action plans of the site.
• Sets up safety signs and signages at the designated place and ensures they are visible enough for all employees to visualize for example, Battery pit intervention.
• To have a daily check of the emergency services at standby at the dry dock/ normal conditions.

Skills:

• Diploma in Safety /Any Graduate, IOSH / NEBOSH / ADIS or Fire & Safety Course
• 4 - 6 years of experience
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Experience with hot work, confined space, and height safety.
• Skilled in risk assessments, audits and incident reporting.
• Good Communication and training skills.
• Familiar with PPE, permit systems and emergency procedure.
