The Safety Manager at Lenskarts Bhiwadi Manufacturing Plant will lead and manage the safety program, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations, standards, and best practices. The candidate will drive initiatives to maintain a safe and healthy working environment, particularly through proactive risk management and implementation of safety protocols in line with standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related electrical and environmental safety standards. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of industrial safety, electrical safety, EHS, fire safety, and factory compliance.
- Ensure the facility complies with IEC 61508, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards, as well as local and federal safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent workplace hazards and reduce risks.
- Lead risk assessment processes and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to monitor the effectiveness of the safety program, reporting on compliance and areas for improvement.
- Manage electrical safety protocols and compliance with IEC 61508 standards, assessing risks associated with equipment and processes.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure electrical systems and machinery are safe and meet required standards.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures, safe electrical work practices, and electrical hazard assessment programs.
- Oversee and manage EHS programs, including emergency response planning, waste management, air quality, and water treatment.
- Ensure ISO 14001 environmental management system compliance, conducting regular assessments to identify environmental impact and corrective measures.
- Develop EHS training materials and conduct training sessions for employees to ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies.
- Ensure the facility meets all legal requirements related to factory safety and labor laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, implementing necessary adjustments to policies.
- Work closely with government regulatory bodies and local authorities to maintain compliance and respond to inspections or inquiries.
- Establish and maintain fire safety policies and procedures, including installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire prevention equipment.
- Conduct regular fire drills, emergency preparedness training, and ensure proper exit planning.
- Monitor fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and emergency response plans, addressing deficiencies immediately.
- Develop and conduct regular training programs on safety topics such as hazard communication, electrical safety, fire safety, emergency response, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate safety orientation and follow safety protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness through continuous engagement and communication across departments.
- Collect, analyze, and report on safety-related data, including incidents, near-misses, and safety inspections.
- Prepare reports for management on safety metrics, compliance status, and recommendations for safety improvements.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends and develop proactive strategies to prevent incidents.
- Lead and mentor a team of safety officers, ensuring they are trained and aligned with the plant's safety standards and objectives.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and HR teams to integrate safety measures into all plant operations.
- Serve as the primary safety point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and auditors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- RLI certification (Regional Labour Institute) or equivalent.
- ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification training preferred.
- 6-10 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proven experience with IEC 61508 (electrical safety) standards, fire safety management, and EHS regulations.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices, risk assessment methodologies, and hazard control techniques.
- Proficiency in using safety management software, MS Office, and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with Factory Act compliance, environmental regulations, and electrical safety standards.
