Safety Officer

Job Title

Functional Area

Job Purpose:

To support the plant operations in maintaining statutory and operational safety, driving compliance, hazard identification, and risk assessment, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify and issue

  Critical Work Permits

  (Hot work, Confined space, Height work, etc.).
• Conduct and facilitate

  Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  for hazardous and critical activities.
• Perform

  HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment)

  and maintain proper documentation.
• Conduct daily

  plant safety inspections

  and identify/report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Inspect

  firefighting systems

  , monitor hydrants, and manage emergency preparedness.
• Conduct

  near-miss and accident reporting

  and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform

  tanker inspections

  and monitor handling safety of chemicals and solvents.
• Coordinate and deliver

  safety trainings

  , toolbox talks, and mock drills (e.g., fire drills).
• Assist in compliance with statutory legal documentation related to EHS.
• Ensure implementation of

  ZLP audits

  , behavior-based safety programs, and contractor safety protocols.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams for maintaining EHS standards and culture.
• Participate in

  tabletop exercises

  , emergency response plan reviews, and documentation compliance.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum

  3 years of experience

  in a chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing setup.
• Sound knowledge of EHS practices, safety audits, and permit systems.
• Familiarity with

  legal and regulatory safety compliance

  in manufacturing.
• Good command over communication, team management, and quick decision-making.
• Proficient in languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati.

Certification or diploma in Industrial Safety is desirable.
