Job Title : EHS Officer Department : Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Location : Ankleshwar Experience : 3-5 Years Functional Area : EHS & Safety Compliance Job Purpose: To support the plant operations in maintaining statutory and operational safety, driving compliance, hazard identification, and risk assessment, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. Key Responsibilities : Verify and issue Critical Work Permits (Hot work, Confined space, Height work, etc.). Conduct and facilitate Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for hazardous and critical activities. Perform HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) and maintain proper documentation. Conduct daily plant safety inspections and identify/report unsafe acts or conditions. Inspect firefighting systems , monitor hydrants, and manage emergency preparedness. Conduct near-miss and accident reporting and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Perform tanker inspections and monitor handling safety of chemicals and solvents. Coordinate and deliver safety trainings , toolbox talks, and mock drills (e.g., fire drills). Assist in compliance with statutory legal documentation related to EHS. Ensure implementation of ZLP audits , behavior-based safety programs, and contractor safety protocols. Work closely with cross-functional teams for maintaining EHS standards and culture. Participate in tabletop exercises , emergency response plan reviews, and documentation compliance. Candidate Profile : Minimum 3 years of experience in a chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing setup. Sound knowledge of EHS practices, safety audits, and permit systems. Familiarity with legal and regulatory safety compliance in manufacturing. Good command over communication, team management, and quick decision-making. Proficient in languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati. Certification or diploma in Industrial Safety is desirable. Role & responsibilities Be conversant with local legislation, including BOCW Act and advise Project team on safety aspects as per statutory laws and to maintain the project site as per Safety SOPs. Able to prepare Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analysis, HSE SOPs & SSOWs, Incident Alerts and monitor its implementation along with training to the workers and staff. To advice purchasing and ensuring high quality safety items, including personal protective equipment as per IS Standards. Conversant with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 requirements and be able to coordinate with external auditors for such compliance. Perform filed inspections and HSE reviews at project locations and advice Project heads and other team members to improve the site condition. To investigate incidents, including fatal, serious incidents, etc. Record all such findings and monitor the corrective action and implementation. To promote the working of safety committees, risk review committees. To organize safety promotions and campaigns, such as National Safety Day, World Environment Day and other activities. To design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with other agencies suitable training and educational programmes for prevention of accidents to building workers. To frame safe rules and working practices in consultation with senior management officials of the establishment. Conversant with online data uploading pertaining to environmental compliances in government websites and to follow up for its compliances. To be able to keep records of all safety inspections, audits, reviews, meetings, trainings and other safety deliverables along with monitoring & tracking safety performance. Be conversant with record keeping and retrieving of HSE data. Preferred candidate profile Qualified B.E. / B. Tech. (Mechanical / Electrical) Professional with ADIS / PDIS (state board / Central Board approved) with 8+ years of experience or other related fields. NEBOSH qualification will be an added advantage. Strong attention to detail, experience in making Safety SOP and various reports, Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
