Position Summary

The role involves the examination, documentation, conservation, and restoration of artworks across various media. The candidate should have a strong understanding of conservation principles and methods, with basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in treatment processes. Key responsibilities include preparing detailed condition reports and treatment documentation, maintaining accurate digital records, and staying current with conservation standards and best practices. The position also requires estimating treatment costs, collaborating with team members and other departments, and managing multiple projects efficiently while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Examination, documentation, conservation and restoration of artworks (including paintings and sculptures on various media, textile).
• Good knowledge of principles and methods used in conservation and restoration of artworks.
• Basic knowledge of instruments and equipment used in conservation/restoration.
• Preparing comprehensive documents and reports on condition analysis, treatments.
• Keeping up to date with the latest conservation standards and practices.
• Maintaining digital records.
• Costing and generating conservation treatments estimates.
• Communication with team members and other departments in the organization to best understand requirements of a given project and carry out tasks in hand.
• Ability to work with deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

•  2+ years of experience in conservation of art
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Conservation, Museology/Museum Studies, Fine Arts or a related field.

Key Skills

• Research and analytical skills of treatment of artworks.
• Data organization.
• Basic knowledge of Chemistry.
• Background in visual arts preferable with technical skills in painting/sculpture.
• Good communication skills.
