This Job is based in Australia The Opportunity The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW has an opportunity for a Research Associate. In this role, you will conduct scientific research on an externally funded project (supported by the Trailblazer program) focused on long-duration energy storage systems. Specifically, your research will centre on the development of monitoring and control mechanisms for vanadium flow batteries. This position will provide you with the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally. You will contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals, participate in conferences and workshops, supervise HDR students, and actively engage with industry partners. This role reports to Professor Jie Bao and has no direct reports. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision. Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity. Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students. Demonstrated experience with dynamic modelling, process control and flow batteries design, monitoring and control. Strong mathematical skills. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
