Job Summary :
The Vehicle Homologation & Compliance Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all products meet global regulatory requirements for domestic and export markets. The individual will be responsible for interpreting regulations, coordinating with engineering and program teams to gather critical homologation data, prepare comprehensive documentation, track program status, and manage the submission of type approval applications. A key aspect of this role involves driving process improvements, including the identification and implementation of automation opportunities to enhance efficiency in homologation activities. The role requires deep technical knowledge of automotive regulations, strong project management skills, and the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government authorities and technical services.
Qualifications

Education
: Bachelors Degree in Engineering (BE / B Tech/ Mechanical / automobile).

Experience:
Minimum 2.5 years of relevant work experience in regulatory compliance and automotive homologation processes.Prior Ford Product Development experience is highly considered.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Homologation WVTA, System approval, Component approvals, self-certification, CoP etc).

In-depth Knowledge of global automotive regulations (UNECE, GTRs, EU Dir, EU Emissions, FMVSS, EPA, CARB, China 5, 6a,6b, China GB & GB/T).

Broad understanding of vehicle systems, components, and their interactions..

Ability to analyze business activities and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, including developing automation scripts (e.g., for data extraction, transformation, and loading).

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Guidance & Compliance:
-
Provide regulatory guidance and knowledge transfer to engineering teams, cascading global requirements and guidelines via Ford internal systems & tools for new programs in support of major program gateways.

Interface with Global Lead Engineering & Cross functional teams (Product Development, Marketing Planning, Manufacturing, etc.) on regulatory and homologation requirements.

Support engineering teams to ensure robust, consistent compliance documentation and help to resolve regulatory and non-regulatory design-related issues, driving resolution of Homologation/Compliance issues to closure.

Respond to regulatory queries from internal and external stakeholders .
Homologation Testing & Certification:
-
Coordinate and execute domestic & export market homologation tests (e.g., emission, engine, safety critical) at government agencies and internal labs.

Primary point of contact and lead for interactions with government authorities and technical services (e.g., ARAI, TUV, VCA) during witness tests, and conduct worst-case meetings with engineering and type approval authorities.

Work with Product Development for vehicle preparation and sign-off prior to homologation testing.

Obtain system-level certifications and whole-vehicle type approval certificates from government authorities.
Program Management & Tracking:

Drive engineering coordination for compliance planning across all new programs, On-going Product Development (OPD), and evolving regulations, and proactively manage re-certification necessitated by product and engineering changes.

Track Vehicle Program Plan / Product Lifecycle, yiming, and overall program homologation status.

Lead and report program homologation status in program meetings and release status reports for program gateways.

Coordinate input from in-country homologation contacts (dealers) to support Program / Senior Management reviews.
Documentation & Submission:

Collect, consolidate, and prepare engineering data for final government applications.

Prepare and submit all necessary certification and type approval documents to government authorities, partners, or external agencies across various global markets.

Coordinate embassy attestation of certification document submission for specific markets (e.g., GCC markets).

Liaise with CAD and engineering teams to prepare and release homologation drawings .
Process Improvement & Automation:

Analyse homologation business activities and identify opportunities to modernize and improve efficiency.

Develop and implement solutions, including automation scripts, to extract, transform, and load technical engineering and homologation data.
