Job Title: Range Country Coordinator
Qualifications required:
Master’s degree or its equivalent in Environment, Biodiversity Conservation, Wildlife, Social Sciences, or equivalent subject.
Experience
- A minimum of 5-6 years of experience of working at managerial level for wildlife
conservation/ project coordination/ communications/ liaising with Government and Non
Governmental agencies.
- Experience and knowledge in the field of elephant conservation.
- Experience working with complex stakeholder groups to deliver tangible outcomes.
- Experience leading workshops and stakeholders in meaningful action planning.
Language Requirements
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in any of the Asian elephant range country languages and proven competence at public speaking would be an advantage.(
Open to foreign nationals who have to undergo for the procedure to obtain an Indian work visa
)
Broad Responsibilities Include
i. Support to the Asian elephant range countries and their ongoing activities
- Respond to all technical queries made to the CSS: Asian elephant or direct them as appropriate.
- Liaise with the range countries in planning calls, meetings, training and workshops to ensure active participation of range countries in Asian elephant conservation and progress towards Kathmandu Declaration conservation priorities. In addition, help the range countries in compiling and synthesizing information on conservation and status of Asian Elephants across the range countries.
- Assist the Program Manager, IUCN SSC AsESG in organizing and conducting meetings at regular intervals.
- Participate in regular CSS: Asian Elephant Executive Team calls as appropriate.
ii. Fundraising and reporting
- Assist the Program Manager, IUCN SSC AsESG in collating information on budget needs for regular conduct of the various activities of CSS: Asian Elephant and work with the Chair and Vice Chair and Program Manager, IUCN SSC AsESG to produce fundraising strategies for CSS: Asian Elephant and draft funding proposals.
- Assist the Program Manager, IUCN SSC AsESG in tracking budget income and spending, developing annual work plans and budget, and tracking IUCN SSC, Columbus Zoo, and WTI deadlines and ensure timely reporting against the same.
iii. Communication
- Oversee the write-up of the proceedings of the CSS: Asian Elephant meetings and any other technical outputs from the meetings.
- Submit an Annual Report on the functioning and activities of CSS: Asian Elephant to the CSS Partners, including the Columbus Zoo and SSC Chairs Office
Functional competencies

- Cultural sensitivities and experience working in cross-cultural contexts.
