Quality Manager - Medium Caliber Manufacturing

Responsible to manage quality assurance and control processes in the ammunition manufacturing plant ensuring that all products meet the stringent quality and safety standards and comply with regulatory requirements.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance protocols, procedures, and standards for ammunition manufacturing.
• Manage inspections, tests, and measurements to ensure compliance with product specifications and applicable quality standards.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and SCM teams to address quality-related issues in a timely and effective manner and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with customer and DGQA for third party inspection and address any quality concerns or complaints.
• Lead and mentor the quality team ensuring consistent training and development.
• Oversee creation and maintenance of quality records, including test reports, inspection logs, and compliance certificates.
• Prepare and present quality performance metrics and reports to senior management.
• Review and analyse quality performance data to identify quality trends and focus areas of improvement to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Analyse quality risks throughout the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies.

Educational Qualification

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production or related discipline.

Experiences

• Proven 10+ years experience of similar role in defence industry preferably in ammunition manufacturing
• Proficiency in quality tools and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis).
• Knowledge of national and international quality standards, including ISO, MIL-SPEC, STANAG, JSS, and other relevant quality standards.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to explosive materials.
• Experience with ballistic testing of ammunition is a plus.
