Quality Assurance Technologist

Job Summary:

The Product Technologist plays a key role in ensuring that garments are developed, produced, and delivered in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards, and fit expectations. This position supports product development by managing technical specifications, fit approvals, testing, and ensuring production feasibility.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development & Sampling

• Evaluate design packs/tech packs received from buyers.
• Prepare and review garment specifications, construction details, and BOM.
• Provide technical input to design, merchandising, and production teams to ensure design intent and manufacturing feasibility.
• Develop sample specifications and size charts in coordination with pattern masters and merchandisers.
• Review and approve proto, fit and size set samples from a technical perspective.

2. Fit and Construction

• Conduct fit sessions with mannequins or live models and suggest pattern amendments.
• Ensure garments meet required fit, construction, and measurement standards.
• Liaise with pattern makers to make necessary corrections.

3. Quality Assurance

• Define and ensure adherence to product quality standards at every stage.
• Work with QA teams to resolve construction or quality issues before and during production.
• Evaluate wash, shrinkage, color fastness, and other performance test reports.

4. Communication and Coordination

• Coordinate with buyers/clients and internally on technical queries, approvals, and testing requirements.
• Communicate internally with fabric and trim suppliers to ensure technical compliance.
• Work closely with production, merchandising and quality control teams to ensure seamless handover from development to bulk.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain detailed technical files including tech packs, graded size charts, testing reports, and approval records.
• Ensure all products comply with buyer-specific technical and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements:

Education:

• Diploma/Degree in Fashion Technology, Garment Manufacturing Technology, or related fields (e.g., NIFT, PEARL, ATDC, etc.)

Experience:

• Relevant years of experience in a similar role within apparel manufacturing/export environment.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of garment construction, patterns, and grading.
• Proficient in using technical software.
• Good knowledge of textile performance standards and lab testing.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

Desirable:

• Experience in handling international buyers (e.g., ASOS, Bestseller Group, H&M, Zara, Superdry, GAP, similar high fashion brands etc.)
• Familiarity with sustainability and compliance norms.
• Exposure to multi-category apparel (mens, womens & kidswear knits, wovens, outerwear, high fashion, etc)
