Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and resourceful Purchase Executive to manage procurement of raw materials, consumables, and services for our steel and fabrication operations. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of steel materials, vendor management skills, and the ability to negotiate competitively while ensuring timely and quality supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Sourcing:

• Identify and source raw materials such as TMT bars, MS Plates, Angles, Channels, Beams, Pipes, Flats, Bolts, and Hardware items.
• Develop and maintain vendor networks for steel, fabrication consumables, and logistics.
• Obtain competitive quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare comparative statements.
• Evaluate vendors based on quality, delivery timelines, and pricing consistency.

2. Purchase Order & Documentation:

• Prepare and issue purchase orders (PO) and work orders in coordination with accounts and store departments.
• Ensure accurate documentation for purchase requisitions, approvals, and invoice verification.
• Maintain proper records of supplier quotations, PO history, and payment follow-ups.
• Track and monitor order progress to ensure on-time delivery.

3. Cost & Negotiation Management:

• Negotiate effectively with suppliers on pricing, payment terms, and transportation charges.
• Monitor market trends and fluctuations in steel prices, freight costs, and raw material availability.
• Analyze cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality and service.

4. Coordination & Communication:

• Coordinate with the Production, Stores, Accounts, and Dispatch departments to align purchase planning with project and stock requirements.
• Liaise with transporters for inbound material movement and delivery confirmation.
• Resolve any discrepancies related to material specifications, quantity, or quality.

5. Inventory & Reporting:

• Monitor stock levels and reorder requirements for steel and consumable materials.
• Ensure smooth flow of materials to avoid production delays.
• Maintain purchase MIS reports including daily purchase status, vendor performance, and cost analysis.

Technical Competencies:

• Strong understanding of steel grades, specifications, and fabrication materials.
• Knowledge of BIS/IS standards and quality testing parameters.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, MS Excel, and documentation workflows.
• Understanding of freight tariffs, logistics coordination, and GST/commercial terms.
• Ability to read technical drawings and material specifications.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Graduate / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in purchase or procurement in steel, fabrication, or heavy engineering industries.
• Preferred Background: Experience in sourcing steel, fabrication items, industrial hardware, and logistics.
