Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Material Procurement:

    • Identify and source materials like cement, steel, aggregates, plumbing, electrical, and finishing materials.
    • Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare comparative statements.
    • Negotiate rates, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost efficiency.

Vendor Management:

    • Develop and maintain a strong supplier database.
    • Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and service.
    • Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and replacement of defective materials.

Purchase Order Management:

    • Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) in coordination with the accounts and project team.
    • Ensure PO terms are aligned with company policies and project timelines.

Coordination with Project Sites:

    • Liaise with site engineers and project managers to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
    • Track material consumption and ensure adequate stock availability at sites.

Documentation & Compliance:

    • Maintain records of all purchase-related documents (invoices, POs, quotations, GRNs, etc.).
    • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.

Cost Control & Reporting:

    • Analyze material costs and suggest measures for cost optimization.
    • Prepare and submit purchase reports, vendor lists, and cost analysis to management.

Inventory Coordination:

    • Coordinate with the stores department for material inward, stock updates, and reconciliation.
    • Monitor slow-moving or excess inventory and suggest corrective action.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of construction materials and market rates
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
