Job Description

Role Purpose

To provide psychological assessment, therapy, counselling and consultation services to children with developmental, emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties; to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (OT, Speech & Language, Physiotherapy, educators etc.) to design and implement intervention plans; to support families and caregivers; promote holistic child development aligned with Nahla CCD’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic testing and evaluations (cognition, behaviour, emotional status, developmental delays/learning difficulties etc.).
  • Design and implement individualised treatment / therapy plans for children with needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, learning disorders etc.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions: individual therapy, group therapy, behavioural therapy, play therapy, counselling etc., depending on child’s age, issue and context.
  • Monitor progress, adjust interventions, track outcomes.
  • Document all assessments, treatment plans, sessions, progress reports, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals (occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, special educators) to ensure coordinated care.
  • Work with parents / families: provide psychoeducation, counselling, training or coaching so they can support child’s development at home / in daily life.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings.
  • Maintain professional development: keep updated with latest methods, research, attend relevant training.
  • May be required to assist in screening or community outreach activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Clinical Psychology / Child Psychology / Developmental Psychology or equivalent.
  • Registered / licensed to practise as psychologist, or eligible as per Kerala / India norms.
  • Experience of working with children (0‑18 years) — preferably in developmental / clinical / special education / child development settings.
  • Experience in diagnosing and intervening in ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, emotional/behavioural disorders.
  • Strong counselling / therapeutic skills; ability to adapt interventions to child’s developmental level.
  • Good communication skills, both with children and with caregivers/families.
  • Strong assessment skills (standardized tests, behavioural assessment etc.).
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good documentation, record keeping.
  • Compassion, patience, empathy.

Desired Experience

  • 1‑3 years (or more) of direct service delivery with children in developmental / clinical contexts.
  • Experience with evidence‐based therapeutic approaches (CBT, behaviour modification, play therapy etc.).
  • Prior work in child development centres / special schools / therapy centres is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,857.81 - ₹24,222.81 per month
