Proposal Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop

  techno-commercial proposals for MES, Traceability, OEE, Industrial IoT, and Smart Manufacturing solutions.

• Analyze customer RFQs, URS, and process flows to define accurate scope and solution architecture.

• Prepare

  solution concept notes, BOQs, cost estimates, and compliance matrices.

• Customize proposal templates and documents to match customer needs and MELSS branding standards.

2. Customer Requirement Gathering

• Participate in customer meetings, requirement workshops, and plant visits to understand digitalization needs.

• Map customer requirements to MELSS solution capabilities and propose scalable digital transformation roadmaps.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with software development teams, PLC/automation teams, and product specialists to finalize solution architecture.

• Coordinate with the sales team to prepare presentations, demos, and customer documentation.

• Interact with vendors and partners for third-party components or integrated solutions.

4. Costing & Commercials

• Prepare detailed costing sheets based on software modules, licensing, hardware, integrations, and services.

• Support the sales team with pricing strategies, margin calculations, and negotiations.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure all proposals follow internal quality and documentation standards.

• Maintain a proposal library case studies, templates, feature lists, product sheets, and references.

• Track proposal versions, approvals, and submission timelines.

6. Pre-Sales Support

• Assist the sales team in technical presentations and customer demos.

• Prepare RFP/RFQ response documents within customer deadlines.

• Support proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations and technical evaluations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Traceability systems, OEE platforms, and industrial digitalization concepts.

• Basic understanding of industrial communication (PLC, SCADA, OPC-UA, IIoT protocols).

• Ability to interpret process diagrams, workflows, and manufacturing operations.

• Experience with technical documentation, BOQ preparation, costing, and solution architecture.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and diagramming tools (Visio, Draw.io, etc.).

Soft Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong analytical thinking and detail orientation.

• Ability to manage multiple proposals under tight deadlines.

• Good presentation and customer interaction skills.

• Teamwork and collaboration across technical and commercial teams.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science).

• Additional certification in Industrial Automation, IIoT, or Industry 4.0 is a plus.

Preferred Experience

• 24 years experience in pre-sales, solution engineering, or proposal engineering.

• Prior exposure to MES, SCADA, Automation, IIoT, plant systems integration, or digital manufacturing.

• Experience in handling proposals for manufacturing industries such as automotive, EMS, pharma, or discrete manufacturing.

• Quality of solution design and technical documentation.

• Internal coordination efficiency.
